Governance

Member voice with clear operational responsibility.

BCE is currently led by founder and director Wayne Ebenroth. Founding institutions receive a defined voice in major decisions while BCE staff administer the competition.

Current leadership

Black Cat Esports is founded and led by Wayne Ebenroth. BCE is independent and is not operated or governed by the University of Idaho.

One institutional vote

Each member institution receives one vote. Major league decisions require a two-thirds majority vote of member institutions.

Why the threshold matters

The two-thirds requirement protects members from major competition changes being imposed without broad institutional support.

Routine operations

Scheduling implementation, match administration, published-rule enforcement, communication, and other routine decisions remain BCE responsibilities.

Planned, not yet seated

Future Advisory Board

BCE plans to establish an Advisory Board of member representatives and/or experienced collegiate esports stakeholders to advise on competition rules, league direction, competitive structure, future expansion, member concerns, and long-term development.

The Advisory Board does not currently exist. Its membership and procedures will be published when established.

Rules Enforcers and appeals

Designated BCE Rules Enforcers review disputes and evidence against published rules. Their decisions may be appealed through BCE’s appeal process.

Founding members help establish BCE

The inaugural institutions are not purchasing a passive team entry. Their votes help shape major decisions while BCE develops a stable operational foundation.
