College program planning

Director readiness guide

Your institution prepares one program application and a roster for each 2026–27 competition it enters.

Season at a glance

  • Open to colleges and universities in the United States and Canada
  • 15 competitions across the 2026–27 academic year
  • Monday–Friday official play
  • Standard time: 5 PM PT unless listed otherwise
  • Conferences, if needed, feed title playoffs
  • Website is the official record; Discord is coordination

Prepare institutional contacts

  • Primary and backup administrator
  • Program director or faculty/staff adviser
  • Title coaches and team managers
  • Captains authorized for match coordination
  • Emergency and after-hours escalation path

Prepare every title team

  • Game title and team identifier
  • Player and substitute roster
  • Required game/platform IDs
  • Captain and assigned coach/director
  • Shared equipment, lab, and staff conflicts
  • One institutional spring-break week

Eligibility commitment

Each player provides a season-specific student-status attestation. An authorized coach or program director verifies the roster. Schools retain their own supporting institutional records; do not send academic documents through Discord.

Scheduling expectations

Review the full competition calendar, other-league conflicts, holidays, operating hours, lab sharing, and coach availability. Approved school-specific spring break becomes a bye. Late availability changes enter review rather than silently changing schedules.

Match-night staffing

Ensure a captain or approved coordinator can check in, contact the opponent, verify the lineup and lobby, preserve evidence, submit/confirm the score, and contact support. Coaches should know the title-specific communication limits.

Technology and access

  • Stable game and communication accounts
  • Discord for adults and staff
  • Current game clients and approved platforms
  • Ability to capture screenshots or VOD evidence
  • Calendar access and a monitored program email
  • Accessible alternative workflow when needed

2026–27 decision dates

Program applications run August 3–28, 2026. Initial fall rosters lock September 11; later-starting competitions lock four weeks before their regular season. The inaugural season has no Black Cat participation fee. Conference placement is published September 14 for fall competitions and four weeks before later competitions. Game settings, roster limits, evidence deadlines, and postseason formats are in the Version 1.0 game rules.

Questions and escalation

Use the website support route or the relevant Discord help channel. Never post academic records, legal names, private disciplinary details, safety evidence, or confidential case information in a public or school-operations channel.
